As Kimble inches closer to apprehending the elusive one-armed man, a sudden gas explosion at a roadside diner leaves him with amnesia. While he battles to recover his lost memories, a conflict arises at the nearby hospital. Margaret Ruskin, a compassionate social worker, recognizes Kimble and believes in his innocence, while Dr. Towne, a local physician, is convinced of his guilt. Meanwhile, the one-armed man manages to evade capture, but not before anonymously tipping off the police and Gerard about Kimble's location.
