Joseph Stokes, the son of a Sioux Indian, relocates to Walnut Grove with his widowed mother, finding shelter with his grandfather, Jeremy. Jeremy harbors resentment towards Joseph, feeling ashamed that his daughter chose to marry an Indian. At school, Joseph faces relentless bullying. However, everything changes when Jeremy witnesses his grandson bravely confront the bullies, leading to a shift in his perspective and ultimately earning Jeremy’s acceptance of Joseph.
