On December 7, 1987, Pacific Southwest Airlines Flight 1771 tragically plummets into a mountainside in rural San Luis Obispo County, California, while en route to San Francisco, claiming the lives of all 43 individuals aboard. Investigations reveal that David Burke, a former employee of USAir, smuggled a firearm onto the flight and fatally shot the pilots as part of a murder-suicide scheme aimed at his ex-boss, who was also a passenger. This incident occurred during the merger negotiations between USAir and PSA.
