On January 31, 2000, Alaska Airlines Flight 261 experiences a malfunction when its trimmable horizontal stabilizer jams, leading to a disconnection from its control system. This critical failure results in the aircraft plunging inverted into the Pacific Ocean, tragically claiming the lives of all 88 passengers and crew members aboard.
