S1E1 Fresh Produce
Chef Jimmy Shu kicks off the series at the lively Rapid Creek markets, a Sunday morning staple for him as he gathers fresh ingredients for his restaurant, Hanuman. He highlights his favorite local growers and their impressive selection of tropical and Asian produce. After exploring the markets, he travels south to Humpty Doo, about 40 kilometers from Darwin, to meet Muy Keav, a supplier with an intriguing backstory. Muy, who learned her culinary skills from her mother and grandmother, teaches Jimmy how to prepare a traditional Cambodian green mango salad. Later, back at the markets, Jimmy encounters home cook Karunika Pemaratne from Sri Lanka, who shares her childhood memories while demonstrating her beloved baby jackfruit curry. To wrap up the day, Jimmy enjoys the breathtaking sunset at Nightcliff foreshore, grabbing a bite from the popular food truck, Needle In A Haystack.
