A nineteenth-century sailing ship's crew discovers that their course has been changed, prompting them to capture a stowaway—a mute, drenched Asian man whom they chain up. The new course leads them to save survivors from a vessel that sank after colliding with an iceberg. However, the navigator of that sunken ship has perished and bears an uncanny resemblance to the now-missing stowaway.
