After Hoss's testimony leads to her husband being imprisoned, an alcoholic woman takes her anger out on him. In retaliation, she compels Hoss to take care of her young son, Petey. Now, Hoss faces a tough choice: should he petition the court to adopt Petey or support the mother in her struggle against alcoholism?
