After their trip to Japan, Lionel and Jenny come back to New York with significant news to share. This prompts Louise, George, Tom, and Helen to jump to the conclusion that Jenny is expecting a baby. However, everyone is taken aback when they reveal the actual reason for their gathering: they have made the difficult decision to get a divorce.
