Judge Aldrich's time as Alan's substitute is abruptly ended due to health issues. Meanwhile, Amy, a former medical school classmate of Danny's, starts working in the nursing staff and finds herself at odds with Camille over the treatment of a terminally ill patient. In another twist, Kate and Billy share a romantic moment but agree not to pursue it further after their professional differences emerge during an experimental laser surgery on an elderly heart patient. Additionally, Amy turns down Danny's attempts to get closer.
