Frie Palmers, a well-regarded school principal, stands trial for the murders of her best friend Brechtje from 18 years prior and her daughter Rose, who was killed recently. Frie maintains her innocence. A jury of twelve ordinary citizens will be selected to determine her fate, but not all of them are enthusiastic about being part of what is expected to be a contentious trial.
