Grand Tours of the Scottish Islands (2013)
S2E5 Keeping It All Together
Paul Murton explores the Outer Orkney islands, starting his journey on North Ronaldsay, which, while the northernmost of the Orkneys, is surprisingly accessible. He then travels to Papa Stronsay, now home to a community of monks who have settled in this remote location. Finally, Paul visits Stroma, an island in the Pentland Firth that was deserted in the 1950s. He meets one of the last residents to have lived there, who shares memories of when the island was a bustling community.
