Catalina of Aragon, a Spanish princess, is about to marry Arthur Tudor, the eldest son of King Henry VII. However, shortly after their wedding, Arthur falls ill. As fate would have it, Arthur's brother, Henry, soon becomes interested in Catalina. Following the death of Henry VII, he instructs his son Henry to marry her. Henry ascends to the throne of England and weds Catalina, who adopts the English name Catherine. Loved by her new people, Catherine enjoys their adoration for many years, but her relationship with her husband tells a different tale.
