Title: Bret Plot: At 42, Bret was once the star athlete, adored by everyone in his youth. He settled down with his high school love, Amaya, and together they raised two kids, Kelsey and Kyle. As a real estate agent, his life took a downturn when he succumbed to alcoholism, leading to his divorce from Amaya. After a tumultuous intervention, he stormed out, prompting his family to break into his condo to secure his shotgun, fearing for his safety. Facing pressure from his loved ones, he reluctantly agreed to go to the Hope by the Sea treatment center in California. Sadly, just 80 days into recovery, Bret was unexpectedly diagnosed with advanced esophageal cancer, passing away three weeks later on June 19, 2009, having maintained sobriety for 104 days.
