After a hit-and-run kills Cameron Ivers, Matlock investigates Robinson and Reeves, hoping to connect them to both that death and Scott Aston’s, which would exonerate Cliff. He tracks down several people Scott had been investigating—all supposedly dead—and follows the trail to Florida, where he finds Chuck Ratner. Cliff and Jerri realize the witnesses all share one thing: they each rejected the same life insurance policy. Meanwhile, Matlock keeps trying to shed pounds before his reunion, but ends up firing his personal trainer.
