At Seaford High, newcomer Jack encounters three friends, Jerry, Eddie, and Milton, along with a girl named Kim. They all practice karate together. During lunch, they become targets of the Black Dragon dojo's red belts. Jack intervenes, leading to an altercation with the rival dojo, where Kim is an active member. Meanwhile, Jerry, Eddie, and Milton learn from their sensei Rudy that the Bobby Wasabi Martial Arts Academy is at risk of shutting down. To help, they persuade Rudy to recruit Jack, but he tricks Jack into believing he’ll face juvenile detention if he doesn't comply. After Jack quits upon discovering Rudy's deceit, he is motivated by his friends' disappointment to rejoin and fight in the tournament. In a showdown against Kim, she withdraws after her sensei cheats, allowing Jack to execute a signature Bobby Wasabi move to secure victory and save the dojo.
