After being revealed as a criminal and facing imprisonment due to his terminal illness from prolonged kryptonite exposure, Lex Luthor manages to escape. He recruits a formidable team of supervillains, including Cheetah, The Shade, Solomon Grundy, Star Sapphire, Copperhead, and Ultra-Humanite, to challenge the Justice League, branding themselves the Injustice Gang. The Joker also joins the group by his own volition. However, the gang's alliance quickly falters as they discover that their major vulnerabilities are easily exploited by Batman's cunning strategies.
