The journey to Nowrich has shifted the dynamics between Jean and Lionel. Alistair persists in his romantic advances towards Jean, while Lionel strives to mend their connection. Meanwhile, Alistair encourages Lionel to undertake yet another revision of his book, but this only adds to Lionel's growing frustration with the entire endeavor.
