The Doctor finds himself captive at the hands of the Monk, while Steven and Vicki embark on a quest to rescue him, leading them to a Saxon settlement. Just as they close in on their goal, they face an even graver peril: a Viking raiding group descends upon the village, complicating their mission and increasing the stakes.
