Boyd is tasked with integrating a new colleague, Detective Superintendent Sarah Cavendish, who was once a rising star but has recently faced setbacks due to a discreetly handled botched operation. When the long-lost car of banker Donald Rees is found three years after his disappearance, Boyd seizes the opportunity to investigate, hoping to assist Rees's family in achieving some much-needed closure.
