At a gathering for a film society in New York, George introduces Jonathan to a director who requests his help with a screenplay rewrite. Later, Jonathan spends the night with a party girl and accidentally leaves the script at her place, which is also the office of a psychiatrist. To retrieve his work, Jonathan enlists Ray to impersonate a patient. Meanwhile, George runs into his ex-wife and her self-satisfied new partner, leading to an awkward confrontation.
