The Blue Planet (2001)
S1E4 Frozen Seas
The Arctic and Antarctic present a harsh world where only the strongest endure. With the arrival of spring, life stirs once more. Plankton thrives, providing sustenance for vast schools of migrating fish, while walruses scour the ocean floor for clams. Minke and humpback whales feast on massive swarms of krill, taking advantage of this fleeting bounty. However, this springtime abundance is short-lived, as the ice quickly returns, forcing much of life back beneath the waves.
