Upon arriving in Cyllage City, Ash sets his sights on taking on the Gym Leader, Grant. Drawing from his earlier experience with Grant's Onix at the Battle Chateau, Ash decides to pit Froakie against the Rock-type Pokémon first. He also plans to have Pikachu step in for a showdown against Tyrunt later in the match.
