In 2000, infamous bank robber Byron Chubbuck made a daring escape from New Mexico State Penitentiary and quickly returned to his life of crime. While he asserted that his heists were meant to benefit the less fortunate, the FBI was not convinced of his altruistic motives, recognizing him as a criminal rather than a hero. Chubbuck’s actions raised questions about his true intentions, as he continued to elude capture while amassing stolen wealth.
