Meanwhile, in the loft of Ask This Old House, Tom, Richard, Roger, and Kevin investigate an unusual item, attempting to determine its purpose. Richard then demonstrates to Kevin how to fix and maintain electric water heaters. Additionally, Tom assists a homeowner in repairing a damaged stair tread by using a modern kind of wooden dowel.
