S8E4 Letter of the Law

Tess and Tom are tasked with selecting a new police officer for the nearby town of Widgeree. Tom favors a more traditional approach and recommends Senior Constable Ian "Gossie" Goss, but Tess has other ideas. She opts for Simon Barclay, a contemporary, rule-abiding officer. Inspector Falcon-Price supports Tess’s choice, creating tension between her and Tom, ultimately leading to Barclay securing the position. However, it doesn't take long for Tom's instincts to be validated as Barclay alienates the locals right from the start.
