Ben travels to Slab City, California, to reconnect with an exceptional homeless artist named DNA, whom he encountered during another documentary project. He spends time at DNA's 'Mad Max' camp situated on a desolate hill, a stark refuge amidst the harsh desert landscape. As Ben immerses himself in this extreme environment, he uncovers the limited choices available to DNA and the other residents of Slab City.
