Scorpius manages to acquire the slaves holding D'Argo's son, Jothee, just before D'Argo can reach them. In the meantime, a few members of the crew set off from Moya to find mercenaries who can help rescue Jothee. Back on the ship, the money they stole has transformed into metal-devouring spiders that start to feast on Moya itself.
