Mrs. Fjeldsø's family member, Robert, an Austrian Jew, manages to flee from a German concentration camp, causing chaos at the small hotel where Madsen is in discussions with a German man poised to introduce the wholesaler to National Socialist officials. Meanwhile, actor Weyse is focused on an upcoming session with his psychologist, who intends to use hypnosis to alleviate his anxiety about performing. Leslie uncovers a surprising aspect of the maid, Nana, while Amanda, reeling from her split with Max, finds solace in an unforeseen place.
