Mitch encounters Jenny Wade, a horseback riding instructor who rides her racehorse, Max, along Malibu beach every day. Captivated by her charm, Mitch orchestrates a picnic date with Jenny, cleverly using different situations to his advantage, including persuading Hobie to enroll in one of Jenny's riding lessons.
