Esther Summerson, a young orphan, finds herself at the High Court of Chancery, where she meets Richard Carstone and Ada Clare, two other wards entangled in the notorious Jarndyce and Jarndyce case, which ruins the lives of everyone involved. The trio is taken to Bleak House, where they are warmly greeted by their wealthy guardian, John Jarndyce. Together, they navigate the complexities of their circumstances, all while dealing with the despair that the relentless lawsuit brings.
