Two swindlers plot to orchestrate a fake accident to pull off an insurance scam and are on the lookout for a suitable victim—ideally a dimwitted individual with a face that suggests past mishaps. When they encounter Herman, they believe they've struck gold. Disguising themselves as film producers, they coax him into signing an accident policy, masquerading it as a contract for a remake of DOUBLE INDEMNITY. As the con artists devise increasingly outrageous methods to eliminate their unwitting star, Herman starts to embrace his newfound persona as a pretentious actor.
