Detectives embark on an investigation after an assistant district attorney fatally confronts a hitman amid escalating death threats. Initially, their suspicions fall on his wife, a well-known defense lawyer, fueled by a convict from a case she was involved in and whispers of her alleged infidelities. As they uncover flaws in their seemingly solid case, Goren must withhold certain information from Carver to validate his hypothesis.
