S2E2 Celtic Gold
Carl and Hamilton delve into a remarkable collection of Celtic gold from the Iberian Peninsula, dating back millennia. Among the extraordinary items are a gold bowl valued at over £1 million, exquisite jewelry featuring the goddess Astarte, and a stone altar dedicated to the god Endovelicus, potentially linked to blood sacrifice rituals. In Portugal, where much of the Celtic gold originates, they reconnect with Joao, their trusted local guide. Together, they visit a rare temple dedicated to Endovelicus, examining its possible role in worship. Later, they meet forensic archaeologist and ex-police detective Roger Box to explore the Roman symbols on the Celtic altar, leading them to a Roman temple site in the Cotswolds.
